The “2010 European Young Journalist Award“ is a project of the European Commission, Directorate General Enlargement, in close co-operation Media Consulta, an international public relations agency.
This website is produced for young journalists with the goal of raising awareness about the European Union's enlargement policy and to invite these young writers to participate in the competition. The team would welcome comments and/or contributions from other journalists. Proposals can be sent in via e-mail to info@EUjournalist-award.eu.
The following guidelines apply to all persons who, directly or indirectly, work with the contents of this website, including reporters, editors, editorial writers, photographers, picture editors, art directors, artists, designers, graphics editors, civil servants and researchers.
Code of conduct for EUjournalist-award.eu
1. The information provided on the webpage is governed by journalistic standards according to the
code of conduct for journalism and media in Brussels and the European Youth Information Charter.
2. The main objective of EUjournalist-award.eu is to raise awareness about the EU enlargement policy and to invite young people to participate in the “European Young Journalist Award”.
3. The readers and users of EUjournalist-award.eu will be treated with courtesy and civility. Any feedback will be regarded as important input by the editorial team and will receive an answer in a reasonably short period of time.
4. EUjournalist-award.eu wants to inform its readers and users in a fair and open manner. The content will always be properly researched. It is our policy to correct any errors, large or small, as soon as we become aware of them.
5. Plagiarism is not tolerated. If any staff member is knowingly or recklessly providing false information, we will not publish the article in question, or will immediately stop its publication if publication has already taken place.
6. The personal rights of everybody quoted or mentioned on EUjournalist-award.eu must be respected.
7. Individuals who are quoted, interviewed or portrayed must agree to the relevant content before publication takes place.
8. Articles containing discriminatory content or that express an extreme position, which is illegal or contrary to human rights and dignity, will not be published.
9. Facts used on the website that were originally reported by another publication or individual will be attributed to that person or publication.
10. EUjournalist-award.eu is a website aimed at providing information about the European enlargement policy and other European issues. The attitudes and opinions of people from other cultural backgrounds and origins will be respected and included under the European Union's motto, “United in diversity”.
11. The website is run by Media Consulta. The content of this website does not necessarily reflect the views of the European Commission.
