The national winners of the 2008 and 2009 European Young Journalist Award participated in winners’ trips and conferences in the Western Balkans and Berlin respectively.
2008
The winners of the European Young Journalist Award 2008 embarked on a journey through the Western Balkans, where they not only became acquainted with the countries of the region, but also had the chance to discuss various EU enlargement issues with representatives from politics, media, universities and civil society. During the closing conference in Ljubljana different issues raised in the winning articles, such as opportunities for mobility, cultural interaction and identity issues were discussed and debated.

2009
The winners of the European Young Journalist Award 2009 gathered in Berlin to celebrate their success. The visit underlined the concrete impact of the European integration process as 2009 marked the 20th anniversary of the fall of the iron curtain and the 5th anniversary of the accession to the EU of eight Central and Eastern European Countries. The programme included a tour of historical Berlin, and visits to various media outlets. During the final conference EU enlargement and the question of European identity were discussed.
